A sponsor and active participant of the Guandu International Nature Art Festival since 2023, the Wistron Foundation partnered with world-renowned environmental artist Kuei-Chih Lee this year. Together with 52 Wistron volunteers who devoted their weekends to the project, they created Floating Pulse, an awe-inspiring 6-meter-tall environmental installation.
Sweat and Smiles: Heartwarming Moments of Volunteers Co-creating Environmental Art
Throughout the three-day artistic process, volunteers collaborated and rotated through various tasks—from "site preparation and filling" and "vine collection" to "bamboo strip recycling," "splitting and cleaving," "circular weaving," "sanding," and the final "installation weaving." Every stage demanded immense patience and physical stamina. Enduring the scorching sun and relentless insects, they collectively experienced the bittersweet challenges of creating within a natural environment.
The volunteers reflected, "Working alongside the artist and fellow partners to complete the piece on-site allowed us to truly feel the connection between humanity and nature. The temperature and humidity of the air, the color and scent of the soil, the posture and texture of the bamboo, and the vibrant pulse of life within the park—it felt like participating in a moveable feast, leaving us deeply moved."

The Unveiling of Floating Pulse: A Synergy of Tech, Humanities, and Nature Showcasing Taiwan’s Diverse Power
The unveiling ceremony on August 30 brought together Wistron’s art volunteers, their families, and artist Kuei-Chih Lee, with a special performance by the renowned U-Theatre. Distinguished guests included the Wild Bird Society of Taipei, the festival’s curatorial team, and international artists from Korea, the USA, the Netherlands, and Lithuania, alongside representatives from TNUA and Guandu Junior High School. Simon, Chairman of the Wistron Corporation and Wistron Foundation, noted in his address: "Within the wetlands of Guandu, artists have transformed nature into a grand stage, integrating art into the natural environment. The performance by U-Theatre further infused the profound power of humanities into this living landscape. From technology to nature, and finally to humanities, this synergy showcases the multifaceted strength of Taiwan. It is our hope that this resonance will extend globally, demonstrating to the world that Taiwan does not merely harness the hard power of semiconductors and IC products, but is also a land where technology, humanities, and nature flourish in true harmony."
In his opening remarks, Jui-Lin Chang, President of the Wild Bird Society of Taipei, noted, "The Wistron Foundation has supported the Guandu International Nature Art Festival for three consecutive years. From the works of the past two years to the present, Floating Pulse now stands among the banyan trees, slowly taking root. This symbolizes the Wistron's continued commitment to deepening its roots in Guandu, growing alongside us. We look forward to an even better environment in the future."
Curator Bo-Sen Liao remarked: "Now in its twentieth year, the Guandu International Nature Art Festival remains Taipei’s only nature-centered art event accessible by MRT. This year, we center our reflections on 'Nature as a Solution.' Within these 52 hectares, Guandu Nature Park conducts environmental restoration, education, habitat conservation, and eco-friendly farming; it is also a sanctuary where art unfolds to meet our human needs. This place does more than recreate the past; it mirrors the present and points us toward the promise of a more luminous future."
Artist Kuei-Chih Lee shared with deep resonance: "The aerial roots of the banyan tree do more than nourish the tree itself; they exist in symbiosis with the ecosystem, cradling a multitude of species. It is this very resilience and vitality that I have woven into Floating Pulse. 'Floating' represents our adaptation and flexibility in the face of nature, while 'Pulse' signifies the multifaceted threads connecting us to all living things. Through the shared hands of many Wistron volunteers, Floating Pulse has become our collective memory and story—a work that truly belongs to us all."

Resonating Gongs and Drums by U-Theatre: A Captivating Performance to Usher in the 2025 Guandu International Nature Art Festival
Following the ceremony, U-Theatre founders Ruo-yu Liu and Chih-chun Huang guided participants in the spirit of “Walking Awareness.” Moving at a meditative pace, they embarked on a one-kilometer walk through Guandu Nature Park, a journey focused on mindfulness and inner peace. As they traversed the landscape, participants connected deeply with the surrounding environment, treading a path truly rooted in nature.
As the participants of the meditative walk reached the Nature Center’s Great Lawn, U-Theatre greeted them with a powerful performance. The resonance of gongs and drums, grounded in the strength of the earth, mirrored the pulse of the wetlands—a rhythmic echo of the spirit within Floating Pulse. Here, the collective intentions and blessings of all were woven into the performance, resonating through the landscape of Guandu. This profound moment served as a reminder that every step we take is intimately intertwined with the land and the natural world.

For three consecutive years, the Wistron Foundation has galvanized art volunteers to participate in the Guandu International Nature Art Festival, bringing to life three environmental masterworks: Ascending Blessings, Ascending Home, and Floating Pulse. These pieces transcend a mere concern for ecology; they embody a tangible commitment to habitat conservation. By seamlessly integrating art with the environment, our volunteers have translated their creativity into a concrete promise, demonstrating the profound impact of long-term ecological dedication. Together, they have transformed this festival into a beautiful testament to natural sustainability and cultural co-creation.
The "2025 Guandu International Nature Art Festival" is now open and will run until December 31. We warmly invite all Wistroners to bring their families and friends to Guandu Nature Park—to embrace the great outdoors and experience the profound beauty of humanities and arts.
