The theme of the 2021 World Oceans Day is “The Ocean: Life & Livelihoods,” focusing on the close relationship between the ocean and our lives. Oceans account for 70 percent of the Earth’s surface area and provides 50 percent of the oxygen in the atmosphere. They feed all humans and life on Earth and can be considered the core of human life and survival.
The Wistron Foundation is focused on ocean issues. In 2016, the Foundation supported the production of the ocean themed documentary, Ocean, produced by PTS. This documentary spans 20 years and tells 35 video stories, with no music or narration. The minimalist approach presents a dialogue between human and fish in the purest way, revealing the diversity and richness of life nurtured by the ocean. Ocean talks about the different ways humans obtain food from the ocean and the strength of the ocean when fighting back. This is a new experience in exploring the relationship between man and ocean and allows the audience to listen to the sounds and cries of the ocean.
