Ecological Taipei in Guandu: A New Chapter for a Sustainable and Inclusive City

Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an remarked: “Guandu Nature Park was a pioneer in integrating environmental ecology with art and culture. Over 20 years of dedicated cultivation, international artists from around the world have brought their creativity to this land, producing many deeply moving works of art. Guandu Nature Park is not only a vital site for conservation and environmental education in Taipei City but also a wetland of international significance. This year, it has once again been honored with the dual-star recognition in the Star Wetland Center Awards. We look forward to seeing Guandu Nature Park shine even more brightly over the next 20 years.”

Chang Jui-Lin, Chairperson of the Wild Bird Society of Taipei (WBST), noted: “This year’s festival theme is Seeing Guandu: Nature as a Solution. The number ‘2025’ holds a dual significance: ‘20’ marks the 20th edition of the art festival, while ‘25’ represents the 25th anniversary of the Wild Bird Society of Taipei’s stewardship of Guandu Nature Park. Over the course of a quarter-century, the park has undergone a profound transformation. We are deeply grateful to the Wistron Foundation, which has actively collaborated with us in recent years and provided steadfast support for Guandu. ‘Ecological Taipei’ finds its truest expression here in Guandu. The Wild Bird Society of Taipei has always managed the park in harmony with nature, and we remain committed to safeguarding Guandu’s natural growth in the years to come.”

Joyce Chou, Executive Director of the Wistron Foundation, stated in her remarks: “In addition to continuing to deepen its engagement in technology and promoting Taipei as a city of technological innovation, the Wistron Foundation has also been actively committed to environmental conservation and the development of arts and culture. For three consecutive years, we have sponsored the Guandu International Nature Art Festival and mobilized 135 Wistron volunteers to participate in artistic creation, resulting in the works Ascending Blessings, Ascending Home, and this year’s piece, Floating Pulse. Guandu Nature Park is exceptionally precious. Very few capital cities or major metropolitan areas around the world offer such close access to rich natural landscapes and rare bird species. We firmly believe that protecting nature is, in essence, protecting ourselves. Wistron is willing to devote even more resources so that Guandu Nature Park can continue to reveal an even richer and more diverse ecological character.”
