“Taiwan’s mountains have only two colors: the white of snow and the lush green of year-round forests. Now, there’s a third — the earthy yellow of bare, exposed land.” — Chi Po-lin
Taiwan — an island embraced by forests. With forest coverage reaching 60%, twice the global average, this land is shaped by the Tropic of Cancer and multiple towering mountain ranges, giving rise to remarkably diverse forest ecosystems. In the face of climate change, beyond simply admiring the beauty of forests, we must reflect on how to coexist with the land. On March 21, International Day of Forests, the Chih-Po Lin Museum launched its 2025 annual exhibition, Forests Bond. Centered on Taiwan’s forests, the exhibition invites you to witness the stories of this land through powerful imagery — and to become a guardian of its forests.
The Chih-Po Lin Space presents one special exhibition each year, drawing from a vast archive of over 600,000 aerial images captured by Director Chi Po-lin. Each annual showcase explores a distinct theme, telling stories of Taiwan’s diverse landscapes. From View Above Mountains, Above the Coast, Reflection of Rivers, The City, The Flâneur, to Resilient Island, the sixth in the series — Forests Bond — delves into contemporary forest issues and challenges, reflects on Taiwan’s forestry transformation, and explores how humans and nature coexist in daily life.

With three thematic sections — The Origin of Forests, Forest Realm, and Sustainability of Forested Wilderness — this exhibition invites you to explore the mysteries of Taiwan’s forests through Director Chi Po-lin’s aerial imagery and the work of diverse visual creators.
As you step into the space, you’ll be greeted by the vibrant forms of life expressed through countless native tree species. The exhibition confronts urgent environmental challenges while guiding you through Taiwan’s journey of forestry transformation. To deepen the experience, the team has created an immersive atmosphere with forest-inspired scents and a 270-degree surround projection that brings to life environments such as alpine grasslands and mixed forests. Taiwan’s native trees are reimagined as forest elves. Guided by a specially designed MBTI-style personality test, you’ll wield a unique flashlight to uncover these hidden figures scattered among the shifting lights and shadows of the exhibition. As you gain insight into your inner self, you’ll also see more deeply into the rich and ever-changing landscapes of Taiwan’s forests. Forests Bond is now open to the public at the Chih-Po Lin Museum. You are warmly invited to experience the exhibition—let us see and protect the forests together.
