Since its establishment in 2010, the Wistron Foundation has been dedicated to promoting harmony between humanity and nature, striving for environmental conservation and the elevation of humanistic values. From the heights of the sky to the depths of the sea, our footsteps span forests and wetlands, documenting the intricate stories that connect nature, ecology, and humanity.
The Eastern Grass Owl is the only owl species in Taiwan listed as a Category I Protected Species and the only one that inhabits lowland grasslands. Experts estimate that fewer than 500 individuals remain in the wild. Since sponsoring the documentary Night Hunters: Taiwan Grass Owls in 2020, the Foundation has continued to advocate for the protection of this critically endangered species.
To welcome the year 2026, our New Year e-cards feature the Eastern Grass Owl as their central theme. These stunning behavioral photographs were generously provided by the directors of our Grass Owl documentary, Shou-Yi Yang and Chun-Ming Wan, along with Yi-Shuo Tseng, Director-General of the Tainan City Wildlife Conservation Association, who has devoted nearly 20 years to the species' research and conservation. Through these festive greetings, we hope to shine a light on the lives that share this land with us—those often hidden from our daily view. By understanding the profound and inseparable bond between humanity and nature, we invite you to turn this awareness into a powerful force for lasting action.
