Achievements | Young minds change the world with action

Background

We believe that anyone who is willing to change can be the guardian of the earth. This is an impressive spirit, and we are convinced that environmental philosophy needs more action than education. In 2011, the Wistron Foundation and Global Views Monthly partnered with the Think the Earth Environmental Youth Volunteer Action Plan to invite high school students from all over the country who are interested in environmental ecology to join us in caring for the environment.

The young heart is truly enthusiastic. The Think the Earth ― Collecting Earth Volunteers campaign has been launched which won the enthusiasm of young students and volunteers. This campaign led them to experience ecological conservation firsthand in environmental hotspots such as wetlands, ponds, forests and national parks.

Together with volunteer recruitment, we have built a dedicated digital platform that allows all online communities to easily stay up to date on volunteer activities and have the opportunity to further participate in the volunteer program. "Think the Earth" is a direction to move from trend sharing to perspective, from light learning to the transfer of deep knowledge. We want to move from recognition to action, from knowledge to action, and then from knowledge to belief, to sow environmentally friendly seeds into the hearts of every young volunteer who pass them on to more people through personal influence.

For three years, from the north to the south, we led conservation volunteers through Taipei Fuyang Natural Ecological Park, Kansu Natural Park, Taoyuan Dongshan Natural Education Center, Yilan Luodong Natural Education Center, Yilan Shuanglian Environmental Education Base, Hualien Pond South Education Center, Jiayi Gulou Forest Park, Tainan Waterfall Ecological Education Park, Kaohsiung Songshui Park, and Huangdie Valley.

Planting and weeding under the fierce sun; observing and recording under the green; cleaning up and communicating with nature. We see more power ― including learning ability, ability to manage adversity, mobility, focus and creativity ― most needed by young students. We believe that as long as they learn the interaction and respect between people and the environment through such volunteer activities they have a heart today and they will change every day. We believe that the world will be better with the participation of the younger generation.
