Background

In recent years, broadcasting has become more and more diverse and is no longer restricted by time and space. In 2011, the Foundation began to co-produce quality radio stations, including Uni Radio and IC Broadcasting Radio, which has won 14 Golden Bell Awards to support programs that highlight the humanities and nature as topics for program planning to promote cultural literacy and the education of nature.

First of all, in 2011, in order to promote Chinese language and improve the cultural literacy, the radio program Idiom So To Speak was co-produced with IC Broadcasting Radio. This program introduced an idiomatic story to the audience through an in-depth and simple way by GBA host Ping Fang, making the audience become familiar with idioms through storytelling as if opening up a book on air. The host read out the cultural connotations of the idiom symbol for the audience and also the essence and fun behind the story. In order to be more effective, the podcast was edited for publication as an audiobook and sent to remote villages or special schools to teach mass audiences about idioms through the medium of storytelling.

Between 2013 and 2015, the Uni Radio program Men and Land — New Hometown Movement found dreamers who loved the land they call home and told their story through the podcast. With a story-like structure, they spread their hopes and aspiration for the land and showed the importance of environmental preservation from a more humanistic point of view, urging others to go forth and listen for these stories on their own in nature.Through 12 lectures on the topic of “People and Land,” we echoed the ethical spirit of the land with humanistic thoughts, so as to intensify more people’s resonance to promote the virtuous circle of society.

In 2014-2015, IC Broadcasting Radio aired The One-poem Collection to introduce 104 poems over the space of one year. With a 5-minute introduction of one piece of work per day, the core of the program comprises of the classic works from each dynasty, but mainly focusing on the poetry in the Tang Dynasty and the phrase of the Song Dynasty. The show aims to help the listener construct a new philosophy and appreciation of life, making them fall in love with ancient wisdom and views on life. The Taiwanese Proverbs Collection was a help of understanding the history of Chinese culture and meaningful Taiwanese proverbs. The Men and Land —New Hometown Movement introduced those dreamers who love the land.

In 2020, IC Broadcasting Radio’s Island Symbiosis ― Listening to Taiwan was launched. The program concept covered various topics such as ecological protection and human-centered care. The program takes you on a journey to listen to the beauty of nature and the four seasons.
