Background

The spirit of Wistron Foundation is pursuing the balance between nature and human beings. Since its establishment, the Foundation has completed positive actions with quality charity groups. To let more people feel the power of nature and humanity, Events of Science, Technology and Nature for Technology Talents was launched in 2011.

With the help of charity partners and local experts, the following projects were implemented: Cultural Discovery of Smangus Tribe, Cultural and River Mouth Ecology Discovery in Fucheng, Discovery of Guishan Island and Yilan's Taiwanese Beach Seine, Discovery of Changhua Intertidal Zone and Ancient Buildings, Ali Mountain Discovery, Taipei Discovery, and Natural Notebook. With in-depth guidance, participants visited these special sites in Taiwan and discussed ecological and environmental issues.

Additionally, Wistron employees are able to be involved in service work together. This is an important part of Wistron culture. Since 2014, Wistron Foundation has actively encouraged employees to participate in corporate volunteer work. The employees are able to pay more attention to nature and humanity, creating a more diverse life and enhancing self-value. There are three types of volunteers in Wistron:

Fuyang Volunteers

Wistron and the Society of Wilderness started caring for Fuyang Eco Park in 2006. In that year, the first Fuyang Volunteer Group was formed by Wistron employees.
Other than Fuyang Park guidance and habitat protection, volunteers carried out mountain cleaning, mountain protection, and exotic species elimination. Collaborations with NGOs, academic units and professional organizations were implemented.

Glory Church Learning Volunteers

Wistron Foundation participated in an after-class learning service in Glory Church in Xizhi District.Glory Church has provided a safe, comfortable learning environment for students of vulnerable groups in Xizhi District, helping the children to grow during this crucial phase. As the student number increases and the schoolwork becomes harder, the number of volunteers is severely insufficient. In 2013, Wistron Foundation recruited employees to help students with schoolwork after work. This allows children to keep up with classmates in class, enhancing personal confidence and gaining more opportunities for development.

Shuanglianpi Habitat Volunteers

The Foundation has long been cooperating with the Society of Wilderness to take care of Yilan Shuanglianpi. Since 2017, Wistron employees have been encouraged to be involved in Shuanglianpi conservation works to restore the habitat and allow employees to contribute to the environment. The volunteers carried out conservation works of aquatic plants, lake, and gradient restoration on weekends. This not only enhances habitat protection, but also lets employees realize the importance of Shuanglianpi restoration.

Environmental sustainability is a lifelong task. The Foundation uses various forms to invite the public and employees to understand the importance of natural resources. The hope is that inner change can happen to all people, who then take action to protect the environment.
