Background

In 2011, the Public Television Service introduced the documentary Ebb and Flow, directed by Chin-Yuan Ke, who used a high-quality HD camera to capture the precious ecosystems of Taiwan's wetlands. The rustic lives of fishermen and the changes in the solar terms of the seasons were recorded over extended periods of time. Aerial shots were taken to capture the majestic scenery of Changhua's intertidal zones along the coastlines. Underwater cameras were used to record the ecological conditions of sandy and muddy beaches after full tide. Apart from recording the Fangyuan Wetlands in Changhua, the reason for the Foundation to support this film was to truthfully display the stories of the people and the ocean through the eyes of the director, leading the viewers to ponder the possibilities and challenges of environmental sustainability.
