Jason Wang, an art academic, was invited to act as a guest curator, organizing the artist’s more than 50 years of abstract work, from the 1960’s to the present day. The exhibition uses the 1B exhibition hall with a 10 meter high ceiling and all the exhibition rooms of the 2nd floor of the Taipei Fine Arts Museum. The exhibition is based on the 55-year creative journey of the artist, from his early life of travelling to and living in Paris and New York, where he created works with darker colors during his closed window period, to the appearance of a warm and sacred light in his works after returning to Taiwan, and finally, to the colorful and vibrant works created after his move to Taitung. With over 200 selected signature works and new pieces and installations created for this exhibition, “Paul Chiang: A Retrospective” is the most comprehensive display of the artist’s work. Not only is it a must visit, it is worth visiting again and again.
